Starting out with a gardening blog

I decided to create a gardening blog on Thursday night, possibly influenced by a few beers.

The next day I decided the idea had merit, especially as I want to try and catalogue my plant collection.I'm not yet sure how to do that in Blogger, but I'm sure there's a way.

Without further ado, here is my back garden photographed last week

It's not very big - maybe just a bit smaller than a tennis court. There's quite a lot of border, as I like plants and don't like mowing the lawn.

The shed is about to collapse, which I'm hoping to remedy next week.

Here's the much smaller front garden

Not showing much colour!

The front garden is supposed to be a tropical garden, which is why it includes several palm trees, but it doesn't look terribly tropical from this distance. I think it needs more height.

I've lived in the house for 22 years, so have had time to grow some of the more architectural plants, particularly the palm trees which are my pride and joy.

That's it - the very first post!

I'll move down to ground level for the next few posts and give an introduction to the key areas of the garden.
